The Ewenny Arts Festival brings an international programme of music to the extraordinary venue of Ewenny Priory Church.
Situated in the Vale of Glamorgan, Ewenny Priory is a twelfth century Benedictine monastery described as 'the most atmospheric Romanesque space in Wales'. Completed in 1126 it is most impressive Norman church in South Wales, and one of the finest fortified churches in Europe. It contains a medieval altar and several remarkable stones and tombs, and attracted the attention of J.M.W. Turner, who painted the interior while touring Wales in 1795. It continues to attract artists today: the glass pulpitum screen by Alexander Beleschenko was installed as recently as 2006.
Worship at Ewenny has continued unbroken for 900 years; a service is held every Sunday morning.
